Delta Pokerwork Machines

Help and Instructions

To ensure your personal safety use only with good ventilation. Some wood species and materials emit fumes that may prove toxic.

·         Use your Pyrography/Poker work machine with caution especially around children, as machines get very hot.

·          Do not touch tips when on.

·         When switched on, never leave your machine unattended. Switch off immediately after use.

·         Due to fire risk, please take care to keep hand piece away from easily combustible materials.

·         A water spray bottle or damp cloth can be used to cool your work or to quickly extinguish burning. However do not spray water on your electrical machine or use near running water.

·         For maximum comfort, burn at the lowest setting possible for each task.

·         Always use veg tanned leather for Pyrography. Some modern tanning methods use chemicals that could be toxic when burned.

·         We do not recommend that you burn medium density fibre board (MDF), other manufactured boards or laminated ply that use glues or sealers. These may give off fumes that could be toxic.

·         DO NOT USE tantalized timber.

·         Natural cork can be very successfully used but take care with cork sheeting.

·         Many burning techniques and materials especially at high heat produce smoke. A fan directed away from your work to suck the fumes away can be useful. Work in a well ventilated area and try tilting your work 45 degrees away from you to assist with drawing smoke away from your face. Try to work with your head away from your work. Note fans, winds and even your breath can disrupt the consistency of your nip heat.

·         It is NOT recommended to burn over paint. Older paints can contain lead or arsenic. Modern acrylic paints can also present health risks.

·         If an electrical cord or hand piece becomes overly hot, switch machine off and check all connections.

·         We recommend using a mask when sanding wood in preparation or finishing your work. Dust masks are not effective however against smoke. Please consult your safely supplier for specialized equipment.

·         NEVER LEAVE YOUR BURNER UNATTENDED. ALWAYS TURN OFF WHEN NOT IN USE AND REST YOUR HANDPIECE ON A HEAT PROOF STAND.

We at Delta Manufacturing wish you many years of safe and creative use from your machine.
